Wow……what a beautiful tribute to our incredible friendship….thank you from the bottom of my heart. All that was said so eloquently about me is true of Nancy. Excellent post Nancy. Keep them coming our way. How many times do we get sucked in to meetings on which the agenda is built on nothing more than a ‘to do’ list of what others are working on. That’s not really supposed to be the focus unless, perhaps, it’s on a smaller scale (working group, small department, etc). Running a good meeting takes talent and includes a little planning, a lot of prodding and motivation to forge ahead.

Hey Nancy,

What a great reminder! I was just complaining to someone this weekend about being “too old” to be out cold calling companies as part of my sales mix. The other side of the coin is it does make me feel younger. Not only is it good exercise but I am learning about new industries and meeting new people. A long time ago another sales person I met out in the field said “if you take some action you will get some kind of a re-action”.

In these really challenging times you have provided some great suggestions! I found this article a number of years ago and printed it on colored paper and framed it. I put this on my desk and whenever I get really stressed (usually about something not very significant)I read it.

ATTITUDE

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes.
