Legal Ethics Risks Increase When Attorneys Lives Are Out of Control

Tips for Ending the Chaos

I’ve taught and written about the increased risks of ethics violations and legal malpractice when attorneys’ lives are out of control (this goes for legal staff too).

We fool ourselves into thinking that we’re better lawyers and legal assistants when we remain in a 90 mph non-stop mode … worse, some attorneys think you’re not a real lawyer unless you are working 80 hour weeks.  As the attached article reflects, Lives Out of Control = Ethics Violation #1/ Lessons Learned from Folks in Control of Their Lives, I truly do think that an attorney or legal staff member whose life is out of control equals “Ethics Violation Number Uno!”

This article includes starter lists of tips for ending the chaos, reorganizing ourselves for a saner life and law practice.   By doing so, we are indeed maximizing the value of our client services AND the quality of our own lives.   By not doing so, we are  malpractice and ethic violator horror stories waiting to happen.

As always, thanks for stopping by LawBusinessTips and please come back often.
